It is expected that delegates shall;
- Know the law relating to Manual Handling, associated roles and responsibilities and relevant health and safety information
- Have an understanding of spinal anatomy and its relevant structure and function
- Be able to identify causes of back pain and other handling related injuries
- Be able to perform a risk assessment
- Know the principles of handling people in a care environment
- Be able to assist mobility of service users
- Be able to assist the movement of service users in chairs and beds
- Be able to use handling aids
- Learn how to move people safely, so that moving and handling risks are reduced to the lowest level
